Make your workplace ready
You have to make your workplace ready to carry out the inspection. The best way to inspect the content of packages is to do it on a table. The table should be clean, as smooth as possible, without sharp prominent elements and nibbed surface. We recommend that you covered the surface with paper or cloth.
Inspection
After receipt of the package and its allocation in the place of inspection, follow the instructions:
- Inspect the box for damage. If there is any, include it into the report.
- Open an external box and take the content out carefully for inspection. Your hands should be clean. Don’t leave your marks on the glossy surface or wipe them off after inspection.
- Inspect the content for damage and scratches. Treat all the items carefully. Don’t remove factory cover-up or winding from the items if there is not visible damage on them.
- Take pictures. An invoice, the content of the box, outer box. Upload them into the tasks system. For taking a picture of the content, put it on the table carefully (if the commodity is heavy, it’s acceptable to leave it in the box). Take a picture of the whole content of the box. We should see the content of the box in the picture clearly. If the commodity has damage of the packing box or the items, take an additional picture of damage.
- Make a report. In your report indicate: weight of the package, condition of the external box, condition of the factory box, if the content of the box matches the commodity indicated in the invoice (if it doesn’t match – what exactly you received and what quantity of the items is missed), if the commodity new or used, UPC code of each item (you can find what UPC is on the following link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Product_Code)
- Submit your report through the Comment function for the package in the tasks system.
- Remove the invoices and all marketing material. Remove all old shipping labels from the box. If the label cannot be removed in the usual way, cut it off carefully with a box-cutter.
- Pack the items carefully back into the box and seal it up with sticky tape. If you have a task to combine the content of two and more boxes into one, make sure you will be able to put the commodity into one of the boxes without damage. In case if you cannot put the entire commodity into one box, find a bigger box or inform your supervisor that you cannot carry out bundling.
- Paint over with a marker a shop name on the box if there is any.
- Put the box in a storage place till shipping.
Remember the rules
- Inspect the packages on the flat clean surface. If the external box is too dirty, it’s acceptable to inspect the packages on the floor.
- Inspect the packages one by one. Don’t accept to mix up the content of different packages, because you may forget where and what item was.
- When opening the external boxes, be careful to cut off the sticky tape over the stitch of the box with the box-cutter. Avoid damaging the content of the box with the box-cutter.
- In case if the commodity was delivered in a factory box without the external box, don’t open a factory box (that is especially important for Apple products, laptops and cameras etc.). The commodity remains new until the factory box is opened. Just inspect the external box for damages. The items must remain new for the next customer.
- For convenience of sorting keep the packages for shipping separately from the incoming packages.
- Put the packages with the fragile items on the top. Avoid the fragile commodities to be loaded up with the heavy packages or things.
- The invoices, marketing material and old shipping labels are permitted to be destroyed just after receipt of the packages.
